Children at Kidderminster Nursery Enjoy Chinese New Year Celebrations
Children at Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster thoroughly enjoyed their Chinese New Year celebrations tasting traditional Chinese foods and making New Year Lanterns as part of the day’s activities on Friday 16th February.
Nursery Manager, Miss Gaynor Carter, said: “We always try to incorporate celebrations and festivals from a wide range of cultures, and so at Little Trinity Chinese New Year is always fun!”
Incorporating and promoting Understanding the World as part of EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) offers the children at Little Trinity numerous opportunities to discuss and participate in a variety of traditions and experiences that they may not experience in their home life.
Located within the grounds of Holy Trinity School on the Birmingham Road, the children from the age of 2-years and up all joined in drawing, colouring and eating prawn toast, and trying Chinese noodles.
Added Miss Carter: “The children simply love craft activities, so this year we really encouraged them all to have lots of fun as they made their Chinese dragons and lanterns and to try foods which included tasting spring rolls, wontons, prawn crackers and prawn toast as well as sampling noodles at snack time! They had lots of fun also taking part in dragon dancing during their PE lesson and reading Chinese themed stories at story time. A fantastic day with lots of fun had by all!”
