Cure Leukaemia Fried Dumplings and Patties Raise Over £300

Cure Leukaemia, BBC WM's Red Alert Appeal, following a sale of fried dumplings and Island Delight patties at the Church of God of Prophecy in Birmingham, has raised over £300 for the charity. With approximately 110 dumplings and patties sold, Bishop Aldred was overjoyed: “The response to my specially made dumplings and an Island Delight pattie for a donation was overwhelming.” In addition to those from the local Church of God of Prophecy congregation, Bishop Aldred was delighted to welcome friends from all over Birmingham who responded following announcements on both the radio and social media. “We completely sold out with many waiting in line!” added Bishop Aldred, who has already been requested to make more fried dumplings, but isn’t promising anything at this point as he said, “It was hard work!” Bishop Joe, presenter of BBC WM's Chatback programme, and his team were tasked with doing something a little zany to raise £100 for Cure Leukaemia, so he decided to sell fried dumplings made to his own secret recipe for a minimum price of £1, with Cleone Foods matching the offer with 100 donated patties from their Island Delight branded range. Said Bishop ALdred: “Special thanks to Wade and Wilma for their superb help with frying the dumplings on the Saturday evening, and for allowing me to fry them at Cleone Foods, not to mention the accessories, bags and serviettes. Also a big thank you to Andy Bailey from Enterprise Data Systems (UK) Ltd for donating £100!” Island Delight patties:  Cleone Foods’ Island Delight short crust and new flaky pastry patties are available in all major retailers including ASDA, Tesco, Morrisons, CO-OP and Sainsbury’s, as well as foodservice and independent retailers and distributors, with a series of store sampling sessions planned around the country to introduce consumers to the rich, warm and exotic flavours of the Caribbean. <Ends> Image: Cleone Foods MD, Wade Lyn surrounded by Island Delight patties.
