Diwali Celebrated by Kidderminster’s Little Trinity Nursery

Celebrating all cultures of the world, children at Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster are enjoying sampling new flavours and tastes as part of their focus and celebration of the Indian festival of Diwali.

Nursery Manager Gaynor Carter said: "We celebrate Diwali so that the children can learn and appreciate other cultures and beliefs, which ensures all children feel valued and respected. They loved taking part making Diva's and food including coconut ice squares and tasting a selection of Indian foods.”

Diwali or Deepawali, is also called the festival of lights and will be celebrated on the 24th October and is a five-day celebration starting with Dhanteras and ending with Bhai Dooj.

Added Gaynor: “The children just love making and sampling new flavours and hearing about the festival. They made firework pictures which involved lots of colours as well as took part in our candle plate craft activity and decorating henna hands.

“Hopefully the children now have a better understanding about how important Diwali is to the Hindu culture.”
