Download SnookaBattle2 iPad App and Help Raise NHS Funds
A new phone app developed and created by Birmingham-based entrepreneur, 86-year-old Tom Elliott from Erdington, is now helping to raise funds for the NHS.
Said Tom: “I wanted to do something to support the NHS like so many people are doing today, and as one of the thousands of old-age people who are faced with this terrible isolation necessity, I know exactly what effects isolation has, particularly if you also have physical problems to deal with.”
Tom’s ‘SnookaBattle2’ app is an engaging and challenging way of playing snooker on an iPad but without the need for a cue. Gamers can access a tutorial which will help them move from easy, to medium skill level, before then taking on the more challenging and difficult stages as they progress. There’s no need to struggle with snooker cues, angles, cushions or the like, simply touch the screen to move the cue ball.
Added Tom: “I want other isolated elderly and young people to know about my game so that they too can experience the pleasure that I get, as at this moment it’s the only thing that keeps me active and my mind totally occupied.
“The game is fiendishly good fun and totally compelling and I hope by people downloading the app I will be able to raise a little bit of money for our wonderful NHS!”
Helen Miles, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “What a fantastic idea Tom has developed!
“As with the elderly and others who fall into the vulnerable category, many of our own young patients have been advised to shield, to protect themselves against COVID-19, so anything to keep them entertained for a little while, I’m sure would be welcome. The fact that Tom has also decided to donate part of the sales to us, is just so generous, and will enable us to continue supporting our sick kids at this critical time, and in the future.”
The ‘SnookaBattle2’ iPad app is exclusively available for download from the App Store for just £1.99 (https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/snookabattle2/id1469349190) and for every download of ‘SnookaBattle2’ Tom will donate 80% of the purchase price to Birmingham Children’s Hospital charity: www.bch.org.uk
