Dragon’s Den Entrepreneur Shares Skills with Kidderminster Students
Dragon's Den winner and creator of the Magic Whiteboard, Neil Westwood, joined Holy Trinity International School students as they took part in an enterprise day, designed to promote business thinking and entrepreneurship in the community.
Neil Westwood stated: “More young people need to learn what it's like to set up a business because it is a great career option.
“It’s both fun and exciting to run your own business, and by doing these talks I aim to inspire students’ to consider running their own businesses in the future.”
The students from Yrs 9 to Yr 13 explored and shared business ideas with the local entrepreneur and undertook a number of practical activities throughout the day.
ICT teacher, Mr Chris Barth, stated: “I’ve worked with Neil previously on similar projects and as a locally based business he is always eager to share his experiences with the students.
“With the opportunity to see how some of the theory they have learnt so far this year fits in to practice in a real life business situations through examples, the students also had the chance to try out their own ideas in a Dragons Den style competition which proved an extremely useful and innovative educational tool.”
The enterprise day provided a range of extended learning opportunities and offered great insight in to what the study of Business is like, helping and informing Yr9 students in their consideration of GCSE choices coming up next year.
Passionate about nurturing budding talent, in the classroom and on the athletics track, Neil and the team at Magic Whiteboard, currently sponsor three young athletes with ambitions to take part of the Rio Olympics.
