Football Crazy at Little Trinity Nursery

The full time whistle may have blown at the European Championships but not for children at Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster as they celebrate Portugal’s win with an amazing bag of yummy goodies and a kick of the ball. Nursery manager, Miss Gaynor Carter, said: “Every week throughout term time the children have the opportunity to take part and play football with Kidderminster Harriers as part of their regular sports activities. “As this year was rather special due to the UEFA European Championship, we decided to a hold a Euro Cup Lucky Team Dip so that the children would be able to share in the excitement of it all.” Each week the children would check on how their teams were progressing and count down how many more games were left to play using their team board, right down to the final and the eventual winning team of Portugal, picked and supported by Erin, Ashwin, Ella and Zac. Said Miss Carter: “As part of their Early Years personal, social and emotional development we always try to be creative when encouraging them to read, write or count to make learning fun. After each match we would update the team board in the morning with the children, noting their team’s new position in the championship and who they would be playing next and how many games were left. “They loved taking part and then sharing their excitement and news with their parents at the end of the day before going home and now that it’s all over, this is the first time all four winning Portugal team members have been together in nursery so it is time to celebrate and enjoy their winning team goodie-bags.”
