iPad App Raising Funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital
86-year-old Tom Elliott from Erdington has created an iPad app which is now helping raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Helen Miles, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “What a fantastic idea Tom has developed!
“As with the elderly and others who fall into the vulnerable category, many of our own young patients have been advised to shield, to protect themselves against COVID-19, so anything to keep them entertained for a little while, I’m sure would be welcome. The fact that Tom has also decided to donate part of the sales to us, is just so generous, and will enable us to continue supporting our sick kids at this critical time, and in the future.”
By Downloading the App – SnookaBattle2, 80% of the purchase price will be donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Created by the Birmingham-based entrepreneur, Tom’s ‘SnookaBattle2’ app can be played by 1 or 2 players and to download you simply need to tap on ‘search’ and enter ‘SnookaBattle2’ then tap on PLAY. Player A starts the game by tapping on the ‘high-lighted’ in-line ball or taps on a vacant spot. It is as easy as that!
Said Tom: “I wanted to do something to support the NHS and Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the public have the tremendous potential to do so as well, without any effort simply by downloading my donated game, which helps to reduce the strain imposed by self-isolation, lockdown and supports those affected in one way or another by this dreadful virus.
“I want other isolated elderly and young people to experience the pleasure that I gain by playing SnookaBattle2, as at this moment it’s the only thing that keeps me active and my mind totally occupied and I hope this is the starting point for many more downloads being offered by other App owners to make similar donations to the NHS.”
