KEMP Hospice to hold Volunteer Recruitment Day

During this week KEMP Hospice will be joining in the national 30th anniversary celebration for ‘Volunteer Week’ by holding an Open Day at their new Kidderminster town centre, Coventry Street shop on Saturday 7th June. The aim of the event is to recruit more volunteers for its expanding retail division. KEMP volunteers are central to the success of each shop and get involved in the many aspects of running the shops, from sorting stock and preparing items for sale, to working on the tills and helping customers. Many volunteers bring their specialist skills and knowledge to help sort and price correctly so that KEMP can gain the best possible price for all donations made and raise as much valuable funds for the Hospice as they can. KEMP’s head of retail, Lynne Jones, explains: “We could not run KEMP’s retail operation without our wonderful volunteers. They come to us for lots of different reasons, to gain work experience, or perhaps following retirement or a bereavement to make new friends whilst supporting their local charity. “Volunteers stay with us because they know that everything they do will contribute to the vital work the Hospice does. By supporting KEMP Hospice as a volunteer, you will know that you will be making a real difference.” Kemp Hospice currently has 288 volunteers working across all sections of KEMP’s services. In the past year KEMP’s volunteers gave the hospice over 33,000 hours of their time. “Volunteers working in KEMP’s donation centre in Lisle Avenue help sort stock and take part in helping organise events such as the Severn Valley 40's weekend and KEMP’s annual Fashion Show held in October at Kidderminster Town Hall.” added Lynne. “And one thing is for sure, all our volunteers have lots of fun and meet loads of interesting people which helps boost individual confidence, helps gain valuable life-changing skills, and they will definitely pick up a fantastic KEMP bargain to boot!” KEMP volunteers are the lifeblood of all Kemp Hospice Shops, so if you can spare a few hours to help out in your local store, come along on Saturday 7th June and meet some of KEMP’s existing volunteers, and you never know just what you might find when you step through the door of a Kemp Hospice shop as a volunteer!
