KEMP Volunteer Recruitment Evening
KEMP’s Volunteer Family Support team invite you to join them at their Volunteer Recruitment Evening at Mason Road on Tuesday 22nd September from 5:30pm to 7pm.
Ask questions and find out more about how KEMP’s volunteer services are helping local Wyre Forest families affected by bereavement or loss.
KEMP’s Volunteer Services Coordinator, Nina Price, explains: “We’re looking to recruit more volunteers who can join our dedicated team of Family Support workers. If you have experience in counselling, you’re good at listening and if you feel you would like to support local people from the community as they find solutions to the many challenges they face due to family loss or bereavement, then come along and meet the team.”
The Family Support team is one of a number of services offered by KEMP to local people and their families in the Wyre Forest and surrounding area, with all services offered free of charge. KEMP needs to raise over £940,000 annually to continue to deliver these services, the majority of which is raised via voluntary donations and the support of the local community.
Natasha, who joined KEMP as a volunteer, has recently progressed to Bereavement Hub Coordinator, tells us about her KEMP volunteer journey: “When I replied to an advert for a volunteer post at KEMP 2 years ago, I never realised how it would influence my life.
“After I had taken part in the first children’s residential weekend, I realised what amazing work the team at KEMP does and was encouraged to become more involved in the services which they provide. After lots of training and support I started to assist in adult bereavement support and enjoyed being part of the team. Alongside my time as a KEMP volunteer I trained in counselling and psychology, which enabled me to learn the theory, which informed my work. As my courses came to an end, I noticed an advert for a paid position and was encouraged by my peers and the other volunteers to apply. I was delighted when I was offered the role and I am now working as a Family Bereavement Counsellor alongside the rest of the team and I couldn’t be happier.
“KEMP has such a wonderful atmosphere and provides opportunities and support for not only their clients but also their volunteers. I would encourage anyone to come and be involved in this special team, and see how it could possibly change their life too.”
Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to join the team for this informal evening event on Tuesday 22nd September, and you can find out more by contacting the Volunteer Services team on 01562 756000 or email: volunteering@kemphospice.org.uk
