Kidderminster Students Amongst National Top Ten Swimmers
Competing at the English Schools Swimming Association National Finals for Primary Schools Team Championships at Ponds Forge Sheffield on Saturday 15th June 2013, HTIS swimmers achieved amazing results in their U11 races, with both teams securing ‘Top Ten’ positions nationally.
After regional qualification in March, our U11 Mixed Stroke and Freestyle Teams took to the water against stiff national competition and qualified for both Team events.
Qualifying for the 'A' Final and finishing in 5th Place in the country was the U11 Mixed Stroke Team comprising: (backstroke) Georgia Lees (11yrs), (breaststroke) Eleanor Bainbridge (9yrs), (freestyle) Olivia Jay (10yrs), (freestyle) Adele Reeve (11yrs), supported by reserves of Ria Chance (10yrs) and Imogen Rhodes (10yrs).
Whilst the U11 Freestyle Team of Eleanor Bainbridge, Olivia Jay, Adele Reeve, Georgia Lees, supported by reserves of Ria Chance and Imogen Rhodes qualified for the 'A' Final and finished in 6th Place in the country.
Swimming teacher, Mrs Nicola Bainbridge commented: “We were very proud of the whole team; they have worked very hard for this event and did the school proud.
“A national event open to ALL schools across the country, teams could be mixed with both boys and girls, as long as they were 11 or under. Our up and coming young HTIS swimming team, 2 of which were under age so will be eligible to compete again next year, managed an astonishing 5th & 6th positions in the country. Magnificent and truly deserved!”
