Little Trinity Nursery Planting Joy

Children from Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster had fun with trowels, forks and watering cans as they planted sunflower seeds and busily tended to the flowers and herbs in their nursery garden. Nursery manager, Miss Gaynor Carter, commented: “All our children love the garden and for our youngest children, between 2 and 3 years of age, it’s a fantastic way to introduce them to the natural world and to encourage exploration and build their practical skills through fun activities such as planting sunflower seeds which was very exciting.” At Little Trinity Nursery as part of their daily Early Years personal, social and emotional development activities, the children are encouraged to investigate by using touch, smell and taste to aid their understanding of their surroundings, and of the world in which they live. Miss Carter added: “We’ve been growing flowers, herbs and vegetables in the nursery garden for many years, with our raised beds enabling us to grow ever more and diverse varieties of plants; with gardening an activity which all the children can enjoy, from the very youngest through to our older children, who with supervision, can take care and water the plants as they grow. “It’s lots of fun and an activity which helps build personal confidence, helps with communication and aids speech development skills, whilst support learning through group work and interacting with others.” The Nursery will be holding an Open Morning on Saturday 21st May from 10am to 1pm - please contact them direct for more information on 01562 822929 or email: office@littletrinity.co.uk
