Nursery Sponsored Swim Raises Cash for KEMP
With sponsor money still coming in, forty-nine children at Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster made a splash as they took to the water for a sponsored swim in aid of KEMP for Kids and have so far raised £619.
Watched by parents, carers and family members the children all swam continually for a set time of fifteen-minutes, pushing balls across the pool whilst the younger children, some as young as two, held their ball as they swam widths of the swimming pool.
Nursery Manager, Miss Gaynor Carter, said: “Swimming is a much-loved activity in our nursery-week, so we thought it would be an ideal way for the children to raise money for KEMP for Kids, which is our nominated charity of the year, and at the same time show their families just how confident they now are in the water.”
After their sponsored swimming session, they then continued with their normal weekly swimming lesson showing their families what they do each week. Swimming on their fronts and backs, and the more confident children jumping in at the deep end, they then swam a full length of the pool!
Added Miss Carter: “We wanted to show their families the skills and techniques they have learnt as well as raise money for a good cause. It’s immensely rewarding to see how confident and self-assured in the water they now are.”
Demonstrating swimming skills learnt throughout the year the children enjoyed the positive experience the sponsored swim offered as their families watched, smiled, clapped and cheered their achievements.
