Sleeping Beauty Production a Resounding Success
A production which took many months to bring to fruition has been hailed a total success, with Kidderminster’s Holy Trinity International School Preparatory students performing Sleeping Beauty to a packed theatre audience for the productions matinee and evening performances.
The production, involving a host of students from across Holy Trinity’s Preparatory school, is now ranked as one of the most spectacular performances ever given by pupils of their age at the school.
Produced and directed by teacher and Creative Arts Co-ordinator Mrs Jo Powell stated: "It was a fabulous performance which embodies the learning objectives of the PYP curriculum. We tried to give pupils ownership of the performance by allowing them to change settings, scenes and add contemporary songs and dramatic pieces. They have become risk takers and have worked co-operatively as a team to help produce this rendition. I am personally honoured to work in such a creative environment which nurtures the individual.”
Speaking about the huge volume of work and commitment which has been invested in the production, Mrs Powell added: “A huge vote of thanks must go to everyone behind the scenes. Our wonderful stage lighting and set crew, as well as the many parents who managed to create such remarkable costumes. Thank you.”
The curtain may have drawn on the prep school production, but next for the stage and already cast, is the Senior School production of The Sound of Music this coming November.
