Woodwork Project Up and Running Thanks to Thompson & Parkes Stourport

A local school’s woodworking project has benefitted from a donation of tools and accessories from Stourport business Thompson & Parkes. 

Realising that some of their woodworking equipment was reaching the end of its life, Oak Class from Astley C.E. Primary School wrote letters to Thompson & Parkes in Stourport asking if they could donate tools for their woodworking project, as this term’s Design and Technology learning would be focused on improving the Forest School environment.  

Thompson & Parkes General Manager Gary Watts said: “The children sent us several beautifully written letters explaining exactly what they wanted to achieve, what tools they needed to do it with and why Thompson & Parkes support was so important in helping make their DT and Forest School development project a reality.  

“As a local business we’re always keen to support the community when we can and delighted to have been able to say yes and support Astley C.E. Primary’s Forest School project.” 

A long-established local company Thompson & Parkes is keen to invest in and support the community, and over the years has helped several local schools and nurseries with educational projects.  

Astley C.E Primary School pupil, said George: “When I wrote the letter, I was excited to see what the result was. Luckily Thompson & Parkes were amazing and kindly gave us a whopping £100 worth of free tools.”  

Beatrice added: “I can't wait to use the tools that Thompson & Parkes have donated to us. We are very thankful for them.” 

Headteacher, Alison Reakes-Williams, commented: “I am delighted Thompson & Parkes partnered with us in this. Having the support of a local business is wonderful for us. The children learnt so much from writing letters to request their help and subsequently they’re now enjoying and learning how to use their new equipment safely.”
